Preston Village v Stuart & Stuart Penicuik Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 21 Jul 2012 at 13.00
Stuart & Stuart Penicuik Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets
Match report
Preston won the toss and decided to have a bat first.
Preston got off to steady start, with the opening pair putting on 29 in 10 overs. Some good bowling by Grant Davidson and Pete How though had restricted them to this. Preston reached 46 before the 2nd wicket went down, but they then lost 3 quick wickets and were reduced to 55 for 5. The 6th wicket pair added 41 and the tail wagged well as they reached 122 all out in 38 overs. Pick of the bowlers was Pete How with 4 for 21, but close behind was Richard Adams with 3 for 11 and Grant Davidson, who was economical with his 9 overs costing just 19 runs.
In our reply, We lost Martin Juson early on for 4. Davie Ainslie and Grant Davidson added 38 for the 2nd wicket, before Davie was out to very good one handed catch in the deep for 11. Grant was out shortly afterwards for 19 and two more quick wickets had us struggling at 59 for 5. Richard Adams was joined by his dad David Adams and they put on very good stand of 37 to put us in sight of the winning line. With 27 needed and 4 wickets in hand it looked like it was going to be tight as I strode to the wicket. Then David Adams took full advantage of some 'buffet bowling' and helped himself to 23 in one over to swing the game in our favour. It was left to yours truly to flick a leg stump full toss away for the winning run and a 4 wicket victory. David Adams was pick of the batsman with an excellent 49, which included 4 sixes and 3 fours. Grant Davidson, Richard Adams and Davie Ainslie also reached double figures and made import contributions to the win.
