Cracking game of cricket. Let's be honest, an U16 match at Kirkhill is an event in itself but there was great cricket on display too. Watsonian's batted first and faced a well organised field. The bowling was consistently good with wickets tumbling. There were some brilliant stops and a couple of great catches into the bargain. Penicuik taking 9 wickets and holding Watsonians to 123. Bryce and Lewis faced some fierce bowling as openers but dug in and weathered it well. From the off Penicuik worked hard to grab the singles where they could and this set the tone for a determined chase. Some great boundaries pushed the score on - including some crafty taps behind the stumps and one nudged over the keeper. Everyone worked hard to make their innings count - anchored by Jamie retiring not out - and it was almost enough. Just 12 runs short. Special mention to the U14s playing up. Go Penicuik!!
